Yesterday in Ian Hudson's Marine Biology class, the students visited the Kelp Farm via kayak! This kelp farm was started by Ian and Dr. Trevor Soponis two years ago and is an ongoing project for Ian and now his Marine Biology class.
The students went through a kayak safety refresher and paddled out to the buoys in Hemlock Bay. They measured the kelp and collected water samples that they will be testing in class. Some of the students even sampled the sugar kelp!
Thank you Ian and Trevor for a great outing! This will be a regular occurrence, so look forward to lots more photos and video!
