AISD would like to give a huge shout out to the SERRC College and Career Transition Team, Jess and Jacki! ✨

Last week, the sophomores and juniors got to spend two full days going over plans for life after high school. Jess and Jacki were extremely engaging and made the sometimes stressful topics manageable, and helped motivate goal setting! We already can't wait to have them back next year!

We've included the agenda for each of the days so you can see all of the wonderful information and activities the students worked on! We are so proud of our students for digging in and working towards their next steps after high school!

AISD would like to thank the NOAA and the crew of the NOAA Fairweather for taking the time to come to Metlakatla High School and conduct a presentation on what their ship does! They are currently conducting Hydrographic Surveys of the ocean floor and mapping depths. They gave a great presentation on what it is like to live on the NOAA and all the job opportunities that are available. Thank you for the great exposure to our students and expanding their career path horizons!

Last week, seven Metlakatla High School students had an incredible experience at the Alaska AHEC (Area Health Education Centers) Conference in Anchorage! Not only did they earn free college credits, but they also toured the Alaska Native Medical Center and participated in a nursing simulation lab. Students worked with simulated patients and were coached by real healthcare professionals—an amazing hands-on opportunity. We’re so proud of the professionalism and growth our students showed! A special thank you to Lynda Hernandez at UAA for making this happen. 🩺
