On Friday, Mrs. Henry's 3rd graders went out to the sandbar with Gamaas and Ms. Pike to practice a scientific sampling method for Sea Week! Students laid quadrats on the beach and counted the mussels, katy chitons (gumboots), and rockweed inside the frames. Later this spring, 4th and 5th grades will repeat the samples to see how the amount of each species changes as the season progresses, and all three classes will sample in quadrats on a variety of beaches during Sea Week in May.
