"Nominator Comments:
Naomi is an excellent cultural teacher, she engages the kids with care and enthusiasm. Because of Naomi, generations of kids from middle school to high school will know how to bead, weave, know our cultural foods, and our history. She emphasizes how important it is to hold on to the Tsimpsean culture, language and how important it is to know how to prepare our foods, and remember our history. She has done an excellent job for years with culture camp, and bringing kids out into the forest to gather medicine and identify plants we use. I've seen how excited they get about learning about the useful plants in our area."
